The text and satellite files are produced natively by nbsp without the use of any external programs (decoders), and they are exactly those transmitted by the NWS. If external tools, such as the Gempak viewers and decoders, are installed in the computer, the nbsp system can use them to enhance the images with the map outlines. For generating the radar images, Gempak must be installed.
